The basics and how to get streaming with Connect

Updated over 2 weeks ago

Getting started

It's worth understanding that RePro Connect is a lite version of the open source software OBS Studio. We recommend that you read the OBS Studio documentation to get familiar with all it can do.

Scenes

Consider scenes as independent views. Each scene can have a stack of 'Sources' which can be any type of video and audio input.

You can create multiple scenes, each with their own set of sources and instantly transition between each scene by selecting the in the scene list.

To create a scene click the + button at the bottom of the scene list.

To remove a scene, first select the scene in the list then click the trash icon at the bottom of the list. You will be asked to confirm the deletion.

You can apply filters to the entire scene in one go - select the scene in the scene list and click the filters button at the bottom of the list. You can apply multiple filters to a scene.

Scenes in the scenes list can be dragged into the order you desire.

Sources

Sources comprise of various video or audio inputs and visual objects that can be stacked and ordered into layers within each scene. Various video and audio filters and LUTs can be applied to each source layer.

Just like scenes, sources in the scenes list can be dragged into the order you desire.

To add a new source click the + button at the bottom of the sources list.

To hide a source but keep it in the list click the eye icon to the right of the source name.

To remove a source, first select the source in the list then click the trash icon at the bottom of the list. You will be asked to confirm the deletion.

To lock a source means it cannot be manipulated in the preview window. This is particularly helpful with multiple layered sources and you need to edit the size or position of something on a lower layer.

Editing Sources

You can edit an existing source's settings but double clicking it or selecting it in the list and clicking the settings cog in the source control bar.

Video Capture Device

Choose between connected video input devices like usb video devices, connected cameras or even iPhone cameras on the same network.

NDI Source

Select any NDI source the is present on the same network. This could be QTake NDI out, Avid NDI out or any other NDI output that is local to your network.

Text

Insert, style and size multiple text sources and place them anywhere over the other video sources. This could create a complex source watermark for your broadcast.

Image/Watermark

Select, position and size any image. Images with transparency can be used and images can have colour correction filters applied if you wish to change the overall opacity to create an image based watermark.

Media File

Choose a local video or audio file to play in. Files can be set to loop continuously. All common video and audio file formats are supported.

When a media file is selected in the source list you can control its playback and position in the source control bar under the video preview.
