Getting Started
1. Download and Install
Connect is currently available for beta testing. Please contact using the chat option at the bottom right of this window or at [email protected] and we will send you a link. Connect is currently macOS only with Intel and Apple Silicon versions.
2. Configure Your Stream
Video and audio bitrates can be quickly selected prior or even during streaming. These can be found at the bottom, just above the start/stop streaming button.
For more advanced settings, whilst not streaming, click the Settings button to view all the settings available.
Click Video & Audio in the left of the settings menu and set your desired settings in the right pane. Please make sure to scroll this pane for further settings lower down.
In the Video & Audio settings you can choose, source and output resolutions, FPS, basic Audio settings and advanced video settings.
For default FHD streaming select the Colour Format as NV12 with Rec. 709 Colour Space. Choose the Video Encoder that suits you (if hardware encoding is available then we recommend choosing it).
Depending on the hardware Connect is running on there will be various x264, H.264 and HEVC options. We recommend Hardware (Apple, HEVC) where possible.
When using HEVC and at 1080p you can select a Video Bitrate of 4Mbps or if network bandwidth is low you can go as low as 2.5Mbps and still preserve quality.
For x264 or H.264 we recommend around double the above figures.
3. Start Streaming
Click Start Streaming to go live! The connection state is shown at the very bottom of the Connect app window.
Troubleshooting
Stream wonโt start: Double-check your URL and network access (firewall/router). Also check if the selected Colour Format and Colour Space are possible on your hardware - if they are not it could result in a hung connection state and you may need to exit the app and re-open to reset streaming state and choose something else more compatible.
Audio/video sync issues: Adjust source sync offsets in the Audio Mixer.
High CPU usage: Lower resolution or enable hardware encoding.
