RePro’s Client-Side Watermarking is a powerful deterrent against unauthorized recording, redistribution, or leakage of sensitive content. When enabled, this feature overlays dynamic, user-specific information directly on the video playback—visible to the viewer but difficult to remove or obscure.
What Is Client-Side Watermarking?
This feature allows organizations to enforce personalized watermarks at the project level, helping trace and discourage content misuse. These watermarks are displayed on all supported platforms: web, iOS, and tvOS.
Configurable Watermark Details
When setting up Client-Side Watermarking, you can choose to display any combination of the following:
• Viewer’s name
• User ID
• IP address
• A custom generic message (e.g., “Property of [Company Name]”)
These details are overlaid as text directly on the video, and help clearly associate the viewer with the playback session.
Visual Customisation
• Opacity Control: Adjust the transparency of the watermark to balance visibility with viewer experience.
• Intelligent Motion: RePro watermarks include subtle, intelligent movement across the screen. This reduces the effectiveness of AI or software-based watermark removal tools by making the watermark harder to isolate or erase.
Exceptions for Trusted Viewers
You can selectively disable watermarking for specific viewers by assigning them to a group with the “Disable watermark” setting enabled. This is ideal for:
• Heads of Department (HODs)
• Executive-level reviewers
• Production leads or trusted internal staff
How to Enable
1. Navigate to your Project Settings in the RePro dashboard.
2. Look for the 'Project Client Watermark Settings'.
3. Toggle Client-Side Watermarking on with 'Enable watermark'.
4. Choose which elements to display (Name, User ID, IP, or Message).
5. Set your preferred opacity level.
6. Save your settings.
To allow watermark-free viewing to specific users or groups:
1. Go to the User Groups page.
2. Create or edit a group.
3. Enable the Disable watermark setting.
4. Add trusted users to this group only.
A user who is in a group with client side watermarking disabled will not receive a watermark on their player, even if they are in other groups that are not watermark disabled.
When watermarking is enabled for a project you will see the droplet icons against groups. Any groups that have been disabled from watermarking will have a 'crossed out' watermark.
