Cards & Notices

Cards and Notices enable clear announcements to be made in the Channel Viewer

Updated over a week ago

With the cards and notices features you are able to design 16:9 ratio notice cards to be displayed in the channel viewer. The feature is currently in beta with more features to come (listed below).

Cards

Cards are static content to be displayed in the viewer above the players. Cards do not work with Notices. Cards are the content that Notices logic will trigger.

Use cases for cards:

  • Display a none dismissable 'offline' notice at a set time until production feeds start.

  • Let viewers know a production has come to an end with a non dismissable card.

  • A dismissable card to welcome users to the viewer with information about the production or viewing experience.

Currently cards are comprised of:

  • Background colour - pick a colour for the background (transparency coming soon).

  • Background Image - upload an image to display as the main content or background of the card. (recommended under 5mb and 3840px wide x 2160px high. TransparentPNG are allowed).

  • Background image fit:

    • Contain = the longest side will be accommodated within its width or height. The result is none of the image is missing but may mean blank space is created if the images is not 16:9.

    • Cover = the shortest side will be made to fill the width or height. No blank space is created but if the image is not 16:9 the longer side will be cropped.

There are two ownerships of Cards - Organisation and Project:

Organisation Cards

Organisation Cards are for organisation admins to create a store cards that only organisation admins can edit, but can be used throughout the organisation's projects without fear of project admins editing them.

  • Organisation cards are created in the Organistaion section > Cards page.

  • Organisation cards can be assigned to be available to all projects or specific projects so that Project Admins can choose from pre-made cards.

  • If 'all projects' is set on an organisation card's permission settings then the cards will appear for use in all current and all future projects.

  • Organistaion cards can only be edited in the Organisation section by Organistaion Admins. Project admins can assign the cards to notices but can not edit them.

Project Cards

Project Cards are created at project level and can be created by Project Admins. Once created in a project they are only available in that project. Project cards will be listed in the Organisation Cards area for organsisation admins to delete or duplicate.

Instead of risking editing a card that could impact changes shown in many projects, it is best to use the 'Duplicate' function to adapt an existing card for use in a new project. This means an organistaion admin can clone a project card to create a new organisational version. Or a project admin can clone an organisational card to solely use, with edits, in the project that they admin.

Notices

Cards are useless without Notices. To make a card display in a viewer you will need to assing it within a Notice. Notices can be found in the Project section > Notices Page. Notices only existing at project level.

On creating a card you have multiple settings:

  • Card - choose the card to be displayed by this notice.

  • Details - Name and description.

  • Channels - where the card will be displayed

    • All Channels - the card and its display logic will trigger in all channels, current and future.

    • Specific Channels - choose which channels the card will be shown in.

  • Options

    • Enabled - turnds the Notice on or off. If it is off then nothing will trigger. This is a simple way to manually show cards if no other logic below is set.

    • Dismissable by regular users - if this is enabled then any viewer will see an 'X' close option top right and be able to dismiss the card to see the player/s underneath.

    • Dismissable by admins - allows admins only to dimiss the card, allowing them to check and test video streams where regular users would only see the card (as long as regular users dismissable is disabled).

  • Priority (1-6) - Cards with a higher priority (lower number) will be shown on top of other cards with a lower priority number. Cards can be stacked if multiple Notices have logic that dictates they should be shown at the same time.

  • Conditions (conditional logic of when the notice should trigger the card to be shown)

    • Date and time (all times are currently set in UTC only).

      • Choose a start date and time for displaying the card.

      • Choose an end date and time. This is when the card will no longer be shown.

Cards and Notices Roadmap (immediate plans):

  • Cards:

    • Add a Title and message text to display over card background.

    • Add an image logo to display over card background.

  • Notices:

    • Allow recurring day/time settings within the start and end date. For example show the card after 6pm until 7am Monday to Friday but not at weekends.

    • Show card only when program stream is detected as offline or online.

    • Local time zone support - Projects will have a time zone and Notices conditions times will be relative to the project timezone.
